The people behind Stator Electrical — from the director who once trained electricians to the apprentice coming through. And yes, we asked how they take their tea.

Director

Carl Firmstone

Background
Carl is Stator Electrical’s owner. From training to being an electrician in the mid-90s, he cut his teeth with several companies before becoming a self-employed subcontractor. He worked as a lecturer for 6 years in colleges in Burton upon Trent, Melton Mowbray, and Nottingham, and then formed his own company in 2009 which went Limited in 2011.
Special Moves
General electrical work, team management and training skills, and business development — steering Stator Electrical Solutions towards being the leading force that it is in commercial electrical work.
At Ohm
When not on Stator time, Carl turns his attention to technology and football. He’s a Nottingham Forest supporter. He enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Rachel, and their two children, which often involves walking and travelling!
Watts to Drink?
Tea, milk, and one sweetener (or sugar if no sweetener). Water with ice is often satisfactory.

Office Manager

Marie

Background
Marie’s foundation is in Sociology, which she studied at the University of Leeds. Her foray into the world of electricity began at East Midlands Electricity, moving on to the ESOS National Grid. She then pivoted into IT services, before devoting herself to mothering two children. Returning to work, she focussed on copywriting and communications, before taking her esteemed role at Stator in September 2021.
Special Moves
Marie is the brains and energy behind the Stator Electrical office and marketing, and is responsible for maintaining this well-oiled machine.
At Ohm
When away from the Stator office, Marie spends a lot of time reading and writing, both fiction and non-fiction. She loves walking and enjoying nature, art, dancing, and cooking, and relishes spending time with her husband Ed and two children.
Watts to Drink?
Coffee. Real, with milk, lots of it, with a strict cut-off at midday. She enjoys quality sleep.

Electrician

Ricky

Background
A qualified commercial electrician in Nottingham, Ricky developed his installation and fault-finding skills at leading East Midlands electrical organisations before joining Stator Electrical Solutions.
Special Moves
As well as his aptitude for installation and fault-finding work, Ricky takes particular satisfaction in working together with the whole Stator team — taking pride in the team's combined knowledge and skills on successful installation, rewiring, and upgrade projects.
At Ohm
A gym enthusiast and Nottingham Forest supporter, he used to play to a commendable level himself. A keen fisherman, Ricky competes in charity matches as part of a match fishing club. Being a father of two, he enjoys quality family time which includes days out!
Watts to Drink?
Tea with half a sugar, and a digestive, or a Coke (full fat, not diet). He's also partial to a Galaxy, a Boost, and some peanut M&Ms.

Apprentice Electrician

Harry

Background
Harry is one of our apprentice electricians. He joined straight from school and began working towards his electrical qualifications in 2023. Harry has had a great start to his career and is showing good initiative and a pursuit of quality standards.
Special Moves
Harry’s specialist area of interest lies in electric vehicle charging and smart technology.
At Ohm
When he’s not leaving a smile on the faces of our clients, Harry is often found playing football or hiking.
